Captains log 372013

Today was absolutely a gorgeous day in Colorado.   60+ degrees out and a great day to go walk to the park with the daughter.  The park is only .4 miles north of our house and she goes regularly, but we took our oldest dog cassie and went in a different direction.  She kept up well at a decent pace and at times seemed to breathe a little harder, she just had a spinal fusion last November, but was excited to go to a "new park".  The different path took us on a 1.1 mile trip and when we arrived the little girl was so excited, she said " this park looks just like our park,"  and after looking North and seeing our normal route put two and two together.  I had a good laugh.

After about 20 minutes of play time we hiked back, the short way this time, to the house and that concluded out outing, taking about 1hr of our day.  All in all it was a 1.5 mile walk at a fairly slow pace, for me, and only burning minimal calories, but it was getting out.  We also went shopping at Sams club, I'd add at least a half a mile just walking in that store not to mention 2 other grocery stores, so I wasn't just sitting around today and probably burned just enough to justify my protein shake this morning:)

We are supposed to get 6+ inches of snow this Saturday so my outdoor routine may have to move to the gym.  I was planning on a long run Sunday morning, try to push myself but that may have to go to a treadmill run which seems like cheating. There is something nice about running to actually get somewhere instead of on a belt going nowhere.  Welcome to Colorado!
