I woke up feeling ready to go this morning for some odd reason, I hope this trend continues because it makes it very easy to get out and move. I went to bed ~ 2030 and awoke by alarm at 0430 so a solid 8 hours of sleep. I ate well yesterday and by looking at the numbers pretty well balanced. I felt good enough to run but held back this morning and took a nice 34 minute walk instead. I found I walk a little faster than I thought, ~3.88 mph and had a light average bpm of 112. So while I feel out of shape, and definitely look it, the numbers point to me being in better shape than terrible!
I have caught up on my cousins blog finally, and his girlfriend's as well, and find myself inspired and slightly intimidated. My cousin is able to run a 10k at an avg of a 7 - 8 min mile. This folks is why I have not joined them on any runs, even when I had lost all the weight I had before. I am very competitive and am also the oldest cousin on my fathers side of the family. My cousin, of whom I speak, I have 4 total on my fathers side and 2 younger brothers as well, is 2 months younger than me, we grew up close and so there is always a little competition between us, or at least from my POV. I think this is why I am writing this blog and doing my own thing, this running thing is about me and my personal goals, and maybe someday when I feel better about my skills, having honed them for a year or so, I may share them with close family. I can tell you strangers anything!
Well I must get ready for work, here is a map of my travels this morning.
1530 hrs: got home and walked the dog, Alex, to pick up sons Rx from Walgreens since it was a very nice 44 degrees out, took a route that was about 1.7 miles round trip.. slightly slower, bpm not very high, but I let Alex do most of the pacing. A few more calories burned and a nice way to unwind after work.
